Accounting Coordinator - Hybrid in Linthicum, MD

About the Company and Overview of the Accounting Coordinator role:

  • CFS is partnering with a repeat non profit client to find an Accounting Coordinator to join their team and handle cash operations, AP, and AR
  • The Accounting Coordinator position begins on a contractual basis and will become permanent for the right candidate.

  • Schedule: Flexible start time between 7am-9am (core hours are 9-3:30pm). Work an 8 hour schedule, 40 hours per week!
  • Position is 40% in office in Linthicum, MD. Hybrid work schedule- 3 days work from home (M, Th, F), 2 days in office (Tuesday and Wednesday).
  • Reports directly to the Accounting Manager
  • Annual salary starting at $71,000
Job Duties of the Accounting Coordinator:
  • Compile monthly disbursement proofs of cash.

  • Create and distribute monthly Operations and Cash Roll Forward reports.

  • Prepare weekly reports detailing cash and investment activity.

  • Track fixed asset purchases during the month and capitalize applicable assets at month-end.

  • Calculate and record monthly depreciation once assets are capitalized.

  • Manage tracking and compliance for unclaimed property.

  • Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable related to industry support, exhibits, and foundation contributions.

  • Generate the monthly aging report for accounts receivable.

  • Review and assess sales tax obligations and system compliance.

  • Determine eligibility for state sales tax exemptions and apply when applicable; maintain and renew exemptions as needed.

  • Reconcile accounts related to refunds payable.

  • Support completion of annual and bi-annual Census reports.

  • Monitor Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT), ensuring timely deposits and allocations quarterly.

  • File and submit payments for Maryland State Sales Tax on a quarterly basis.

  • Assist with preparation of Personal Property Tax filings.

  • Handle Dun & Bradstreet reporting requirements.

  • Develop finance-related analytics and dashboards.

  • Deliver exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders through respectful and proactive communication, setting the standard for the Finance team.

  • Ensure seamless integration across financial systems including General Ledger, AMS/CRM, and other key platforms.

  • Participate in special assignments and projects as needed.


Qualifications for the Accounting Coordinator:
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred. Can be replaced with experience for the right candidate.
  • 3+ years' related accounting experience required
    • Audit experience preferred but not required
  • Proficiency with Excel required (experience with dashboards and analytics helpful)
  • Experience using Navision a plus, but not required
